So sorry we have not blogged. Of course we have been busy getting into a routine. We have lots of pictures to share but Zimmerman cannot get them loaded....yet.....
Guess what? it is raining in Haiti!!! Julie and other RN's were seeing patients and I was their personal pharmacist. Thanks to all the donations we were able to supply for this Clinic Observation Hope. We will be bringing more tomorrow.
I am totally amazed at the resilence and faith the Haitians have. Most still have hope! One of our translators name is Maxium, we spent an hour listening to is story. He lost his uncle, aunt, and 2 cousins. He was one of the interpretors that worked at the hospital right after the earthquake. He is 20 years old and has seen more than any of us will ever see. He and the other Haitian people have a strength that is beyond belief!!! .....There is no way to grasp the destruction, you need to be here to see it......
We have seen pigs in the sewage, and goats walking in the street. While I was getting meds ready for a pt I had a chicken fly in the window and go under a sheet where a exam was going on. There was a woman and a man hit by a car the streets. Millions of people wandering around, trying to rebuild in 98 degree weather with a mess of concrete and garbage. So many illnesses. Moms crying for their babies who are ill. The family members do not leave the side of their sick ones.
My mind is wandering. Way too many thoughts..... prayers...Life changing. Sitting on a porch by a palm tree on a raton chair, listening to a group singing harmony to Amazing Grace. The Spirit is here. Hug your kids and family today. God is Good!!! Tricia
Praying for you two today that God would use you. Try to focus on what you can do and do not dwell on what you cannot do, that will zap your strength. There will always be sick people at the end of the day that do not get care but you have to focus on the ones you were able to see and help. Take care of yourselves and rest when you can. Drink lots of water etc, it is amazing how easy it is to get dehydrated when you are working in that heat. love, Susan from NOL
