FIRST SUMMER TRIP EVER!

ONE WEEK IN LACOMA!!!!
We are back from a GREAT week in Lacoma!
We had a tiny team ( Julie, RN;  Les, PM;  Jamie, EMT/triage;  Kervens & Jullien, translators)!!!
We rocked and were able to provide care for over 350 patients in our one week south.
We had to limit it to 75 people a day....our supplies didn't quite last... but our altruism did!
Our truck did not break down! (well, it did have an air conditioner issue..... but minor)

It was hot!!!!

The little community of Lacoma was SO GRATEFUL to have medical care for the first time since the clinic closed this place April.  When we arrived at 2230 on Aug 10 there were 10 people welcoming  us in front of the team house! They had cleaned the team house spit-spot and there was even a tablecloth on our table.  Pastor Gisnell and his wife made sure we were well fed every day and another friend made sure we had cold clean water to drink all day everyday in our sweltering clinic.

Malnutrition remains the #1 health problem.   We saw malaria, hypertension, hepatitis, STDs, pneumonia, GERD, cellulitis, all kinds of rashes, etc and oh so many pregnancies are brewing in the summer sun.   How can we possibly combat these chronic illnesses?  We go back! We plan to return November 9-23 for another 2 weeks of care.

Sending out loads of love and gratitude to EVERYONE that supports us on any level!!!!
WE COULD NOT HELP WITHOUT YOUR HELP!!!!

Pics to follow as soon as I can force myself indoors......... <3 nbsp="">
